SCCM - AKI focus 2011

Overview

AKI occurs in approximately 67% of intensive care unit (ICU) patients annually and is associated with increased hospital mortality rates. Generally defined as an abrupt and sustained decrease in kidney function, AKI requires complex treatment. During this conference, a multiprofessional team of experts will provide the latest research and information about AKI. Topics to be covered include the pathophysiology, epidemiology and prevention of AKI, drug and non-drug therapies, nutrition support, and best practice guidelines. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss case studies and review practical applications of continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) techniques with the faculty during workshop sessions.
